For sweaters and knits, it’s better to fold them rather than hang them – otherwise they will stretch out. Use the “envelope folding” method, where items stand upright, like books. This way you can see each item, not just the front. This is especially useful for dresser drawers. You can also use dividers or boxes to prevent clutter.

Store seasonal items – such as winter sweaters or summer shorts – separately. Vacuum bags or boxes with lids work well. Label them so you don’t have to open them every time. This will free up space for the current season and make it easier to rotate your clothes. Don’t forget about shoes: they should be stored in original boxes with a photo on the lid or in open organizers.

Conduct a mini-wardrobe audit regularly — at least once a quarter. Remove items you haven’t worn and assess what you need to buy. This helps avoid impulse purchases. Also, monitor the condition of your clothes: zip up zippers, turn items inside out before washing to extend their life.

Use fragrances in your closet — lavender sachets, silica gel or cedar blocks. They not only give a pleasant smell, but also protect against moths and moisture. Avoid mothballs — they are toxic and leave a strong smell. Instead, use natural alternatives.
